As you approach the village of Canillas de Aceituno from the coast through vineyards, almond and olive groves and orchards of avocado, mango and chirimoya trees, the view is breathtaking.
The whitewashed village stands out against the impressive backdrop of the mountains of the Sierra Tejeda National Park.

The mountain spring water - freely available at several points
in the village - attracts people from far away due to the
belief that the water prevents illness.

From many points in the village there are spectacular views
of the mountains, valleys and in the distance the sea.

Ideally situated you can tour the great cities of Andalucia,
such as Granada and Seville,  or explore the coastline east
to the pretty town of Nerja.

For the more adventurous, there are many country walks in
the area and a path which curves and zigzags its way up
from the village to the peak of La Maroma (2065 metres)
 - a 10 hour 'walk'.

There is an open-air municipal swimming pool with picnic
area, open in the summer months.
